TIMES Bangalore Festival
You can eat and dance. Watch some plays and laugh a lot. Sing, smile and at the end of it, exude excitement for having had a ball. The
Times Bangalore Festival, organized by The Times of India, will celebrate Bangalore and its people from Friday. Till October 25, Bangaloreans will get to enjoy the performances of some marquee names in music, theatre, food and dance.
The grand festival kicks off on October 17 with a Shankar Mahadevan concert. The man with the golden voice will enthral crowds at Palace Grounds from 7 pm. A carnival at The Forum mall will see a performance by Ritika Sahni.
For food connoisseurs, the festival has, over five days, an interesting spread indeed. Various restaurants will present free cooking classes in cuisines from Thailand, North India, Awadhi, Continental and food from the harsh expanse of Afghanistan’s North-West. There is something for lovers of music of all genres. Hariharan presents a ghazal concert on October 18. Mandolin U Shrinivas is all set to slip the audience into a mood of peace while Sivamani, the same evening, ensures fans are up on their feet with hands clapping in the air. And then there will be qawwalis by the Wadali Brothers, soothing ghazals by Humaira Channa and Carnatic music by Nitya Shree. More musical bliss follows with a santoor performance by Shivkumar Sharma.
